Glamour on the beach: Be France

The title may be ‘Glamour on the Beach’ (‘Glamour a la plage’) but this shoot for Be Magazine France isn’t about the sort of diamonds-and-pearls glamour we sometimes see in bikini shoots. In fact it’s a kind of fun, colourful, at times sporty take on beach-side glamour. Unsurprisingly we’re now longing for blue waters and sunny skies.

Net-a-Porter announces first menswear site

The net-a-porter group has announced the launch of a dedicated menswear site – the first global shopping destination of its kind. The site, to be called Mr Porter, will launch for the spring/summer 2011 season, with an edited line-up which includes global designer labels and niche brands, as well as editorial and style advice.

The more than 60 top menswear brands to be featured include Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Lanvin, YSL, Gucci, Margiela, Balmain, Dunhill, Margaret Howell, Rick Owens, John Lobb and MR by the designer, Roland Mouret.

The menswear launch comes ten years to the day after net-a-porter was founded by the former journalist, Natalie Massenet. Earlier this year, she sold her remaining stake in the luxury online shopping destination to the Richemont Group for £50million.

Alexa Chung models for Lacoste

The brand best known for its preppy tennis inspired aesthetic have signed Alexa Chung as the face of its new women’s scent.

The campaign will be the first of Lacoste’s adverts to feature a female celebrity face. The perfume is set to launch in January next year.

The Vogue cover girl currently fronts Pepe Jean’s spring/summer campaign and worked as a model before becoming a TV presenter for Channel 4’s T4. Chung co-presents her own show Frock Me alongside British designer Henry Holland. Mulberry recently credited the young style icon for hugely boosting company sales, following the release of an Alexa inspired satchel bag.

Mawi joins the Walpole programme

One of our favourite UK jewellery brands, Mawi, has been selected into the prestigious Walpole Brands of Tomorrow programme. The brand, which was born in 2003 and won the BFC NEWGEN award for three consecutive seasons, will benefit from bespoke mentoring and coaching to help them fulfil their full potential in the luxury sector. Judging by past Walpole winners, including Shaun Leane, Astley Clarke and Miller Harris – and celebrity fans like Alexa Chung, Samantha Cameron and Rihanna – we’re sure to see Mawi soar even higher from here.
