Eight Killer Sock-and-Sandal Combos

The jury is still out as to whether Bottega Veneta has made it okay for guys to wear socks with sandals, but ladies already have free sartorial reign — for proof, just look at any recent issue of any major fashion magazine, at the feet passing you by on a Saturday night on the LES, or to the fall collections from Marc Jacobs, Prada, Rodarte, and countless others. Yup, we’re head over (cutely socked) heels for this nerdy-chic trend. Click ahead to see some of our favorite variations.

Beach Day Get-Ups

The 4th of July is just a few days away, and for many of us, that means an extended weekend at the beach.

Sun and surf go hand-in-hand with summer eats and resort shopping, so when we’re packing, we’ve got to think about more than just what bathing suit or bikinis we’ll be sporting.

Here are some chic cover-up options to keep you looking good during a fun-filled day in the sun.

Roksanda Ilincic Resort 2011 Collection

Roksanda Ilincic’s Resort 2011 collection impressed me with the use of colors in garments. Neon yellow combined with midnight blue or charcoal black mixed with light beige – these daring combinations looked very unusual and very pretty.

The range included mostly dresses, cocktail and evening ones, all with rich draping and flowing silhouettes. However, one dress was a bit different, and sloppy. No shape, no distinct color, nothing really special. It didn’t seem to belong to the collection at all.

What else looked interesting to me is that the model had dark hair roots that could be dyed if Roksanda Ilincic wanted it. The fact they were left grown says it is going to be something like a hair style trend because it is not the first time I see this in Resort 2011 collections. See Versace girl with dark roots.

Angelina Jolie Vanity Fair August 2010 Issue

With the upcoming premiere of Salt Angelina Jolie has become one of the most called-for persons by media. And her cover and interview for Vanity Fair August 2010 issue came as no surpise at all.

The actress looks beautiful and serious in the editorial with her hair long and loose. She wears a glamorous blue strapless gown.

Dress Up Your Denim Like Vanessa Hudgens

If summer is getting steamy where you live and the jeans you pretty much live in all year are starting to look slightly less appealing, we’ve got a brilliant way to cure your blues–Vanessa Hudgens on the cover of the August issue of Glamour, showing us some amazing alternatives in our brand-new denim issue!

What’s cuter than these little kittens and Vanessa’s boyfriend, Zac Efron, combined? The unexpected denim looks she models in the pages of our brand new August issue! Her cover look is all-American, chic as can be, and a great way to summer-ize your favorite jeans. Just add a vest! Going shirtless underneath will help you keep cool  and an embellished belt will help tie the whole look together.

If you’re more interested in taking your jeans to a girly place, why not try the chic contrast between a glamorous feathered skirt and a casual chambray shirt? It’s a lot less fussy than going dressy-on-dressy, and it’s a totally new way to do denim.

Are animal ears the new It accessory? All signs point to yes–Madonna wore ’em to last year’s Costume Institute Gala, the Olsen twins were both snapped wearing a pair in Japan, and even our own Jenny Feldman was kinda gaga over a pair last fall. If your standard headband is starting to feel snoozy, it just might be time to bust out a pair of your own.
