Vanity Fair Oscars Party Red Carpet 2011

For most of us, Oscar night ends with the ceremony and we head to bed dreaming of the red carpet gowns, but for Hollywood, the night continues (or begins) with a series of after parties. The Vanity Fair Oscar party at the Sunset Tower Hotel is the kind of party where legendary stories are made and it has its own red carpet as hot as the awards. For those not invited to the ceremony, this is their opportunity to shine, and there were some definite hits last night.

Red Carpet Ready

It’s easy to achieve some of our favorite red carpet looks.

Christina Hendricks’ big bright eyes:

NARS and celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali teamed up to create an exuberant look for Christina Hendricks at the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards.  “I had this vision of a big, doe-eyed, lashy look from the late 70s and early 80s. To keep it modern, I kept the skin dewy with shimmering eyes and added a pop of matte texture on the lips,” said Vanessa.

Vanessa used four Nars products to create the look.  Calanque Trio Eyeshadow and Hollywoodland Soft Touch Shadow Pencil (both new for spring 2011) as well as Nuits Blanches Eyeliner Stylo and Larger than Life Volumizing Mascara.

Julie Bowen’s glowing complexion:

Makeup artist Heather Currie enhanced Julie’s complexion with products by Tarte. Heather first prepped Julie’s skin with Tarte’s Clean Slate Natural Primer.  She then applied  ReCreate Anti-Agining Foundation with Wrinkle Rewind Technology in cool bisque #04. Next a touch of Tarte’s Dark Circle Defense Natural Under Eye Corretor in llight-to-medium  was used before dabbing on New Smooth Operator Illuminating Serium on Julie’s Cheekbones for clean radiant skin.

Olivia Wilde’s sheer pink lips:

NARs and makeup artist Spencer Barnes created Olivia’s French girl look. “ I wanted her skin to be fresh and clean with eyes that extended outward. Touches of rose gold and sheer pink-veiled lips completed her youthful coquette-ish look.” Spencer said.  To get those sublet girlish lips yourself you need to apply NARs’ Fantasia Lipliner Pencil around your lips. A good trick to keep your color lasting is to color-in your lips with the lipliner pencil as a base color and then apply your lipstick over it.  Spencer used Madere Pure Matte Lipstick as well as Frivolous Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil for the perfect sheer pout.

20 Model Red Carpet Moments of 2010

2010 Has been a year to shine for models on the red carpet: Heidi Klum graced the red carpet at the Emmy Awards in a scandalously short dress by Marchesa earlier this year, while we’ve also seen some of our favourite catwalk models grab the spotlight too: Chanel Iman cemented her style icon status when she showed in a slinky gold lamé jumpsuit for the 2010 MET ball, while Natasha Poly showed us how crisp white is done while attending a Givenchy hosted MoMA party. Not forgetting the mysterious and awe-inspiring costumes that some of our favourite models slipped in to for Vogue Paris’ 90th Anniversary party which took place in October.

Here are our top 20 favourite looks from the red carpet, as worn by models this year – who gets your vote for most chic ensemble?
