Hello Kitty Debuts First Shoe Collection With Twenty10 Footwear- Would You Wear Hello Kitty’s Shoes?

We hate to part with childhood friends, and Hello Kitty is no exception. Considering Kitty is 36-years-old (and just welcomed a fashion-forward baby sister), it’s only natural that she’s working with the big girls now by introducing the Hello Kitty by Twenty10 Footwear line, which debuted their holiday 2011 and spring 2012 collections in July. The collection of rainboots, sneakers, and cutesy heels lies somewhere between youthful whimsy and grown-up charm. Clearly, these pretty peep-toes may not be office-appropriate, but for the formerly faithful Hello Kitty fan, we don’t doubt they can soon become a lovable favorite.

Shoe art from Alexander McQueen

It’s not every day that a pair of heels deserves an exclusive glass rack in the living room amidst numerous souvenirs, expensive wall hangings and art sculptures.

The fashion house of Alexander McQueen illustrates just how design brilliance doesn’t end at the ankles, but goes all the way till the bottom of the feet.

These intricately designed wedges, part of the McQueen spring 2011 collection, are a classic embodiment of artistic surrealism. The crisp, but gentle flower petals curve around the edges of the leather platform creating a perfect balance between design and wearability. Almost exhibiting a Grecian bride look, this creation by Sarah Burton is a true amalgamation of fashion and art.

Shoes Say Volumes About Your Personality

People say clothes count for first impressions. They really do, because each person has his own style which reflects his or her personality. But can shoes say volumes about their owner? According to psychologists they can. Shoes show your fashion sense, status, neatness, attention you pay to details, etc…

Stylish Gucci Accessories (Spring/ Summer 2011 Collection)

Gucci accessories have always been more attractive than clothing (at least for me!). The Spring/ Summer 2011 collection is very interesting. It includes a number of bag styles you will definitely like, shoes that vary from classic peep-toe pumps in vivid colors to cute flats, beautiful sunglasses, scarves that will transform your look completely and other stuff which is both glamorous and elegant.

Bags in Gucci Spring/ Summer 2011 collection come in a variety of styles. You will find tiny and absolutely gorgeous clutches made of chic materials and tied with pretty braid finished with fringe, larger bags adorned with Gucci signature prints and inscriptions, wicker pieces and fabulous purses made from ostrich skin.

Gucci Spring/ Summer 2011 collection of shoes is also wonderful. Take, for instance, the beige suede ankle boot wrapped with fringe – looks just perfect. Other great pairs in the range include: grape-toned sandals with golden heels, denim mules with bows, strap sandals, etc.

Quiz: Stripper Heel Or Designer Shoe?

Shoes are pretty out of control these days, and we’re not complaining. The higher the heel, the closer to God (or is that hair?). In any case, it seems that more and more designers are taking a cue from the strip clubs of the world, making shoes with impossibly high platforms and gaudy detailing. It’s getting hard to tell whose been working the poll and whose been working the runway. We figured we couldn’t be the only ones noticing this sky-high platform trend, so we thought we’d give you, dear readers, a challenge: Which of the following shoes are stripper heels, and which are high-end designer shoes, worth thousands of dollars? Take our quiz and find out!

The Well-Shod Squad: Sole Society Launches

Have a shoe habit?

Now you can get a quick fix at Sole Society, a brand new shoe sale site where every pair costs an easy-on-the-wallet $49.95. The footwear E-porium will offer personalized monthly selections of trendy styles, tailored to match each customer’s personal profile. The site positions itself as a private club, but anyone can join – the only requirement for membership being an initial questionnaire that establishes your style preferences.

The new site is a division of HauteLook, one of a growing number of limited-time designer sample sale websites. While HauteLook runs sales for only 48 hours at a time, Sole Society will offer footwear fiends continual access to its upscale offerings. “Shoes are consistently our most requested category,” explained HauteLook CEO Adam Bernhard, “we wanted to offer women access to on-trend shoes every day of the year.”

Each month, the retailer sends out individualized product suggestions, based on members’ style bios. Customers can peruse and purchase any of their recommended styles, or reject them for further selections. The site also offers styling tips and how-to’s from its roster of stylists and fashion insiders.

Initially, Sole Society’s offerings will be limited to their exclusive label, Marco Santi, but shoe shoppers stay on your toes: by next season their will be plenty more to choose from.

Shoe heaven: Nicholas Kirkwood

In virtually no time at all, Nicholas Kirkwood has established himself as something of a footwear deity. His architectural, alienous pairs of heels – as well as being a commercial success – managed to raise the design bar and redefine our thinking about what a shoe should be. So what would Kirkwood have in store for Fall 2011? We stopped by his showroom during Paris fashion week, a showroom that was like a candy store for the shoe-lover, to find out.

A lot of Kirkwood’s shoes for the coming season are quite pared back and understated, but at no time is the detail lacking. One technique Kirkwood used was to press together laser cut suede over velvet, then emboss it, creating a richly textured finish that finds its way onto both heels and flats. The embossing is a running thread through the collection. Embossed horse-bit details on the toes of pumps; embossed and stitched buckles that are so three-dimensional you could swear they were functional rather than just decorative.

Some heels are sprouting with wild tufts of fur, as if to turn the wearer into some feather-footed equine. Others carry through Kirkwood’s established futurist bent in aquatic hues of shimmering snakeskin. A chunky wedge is sashayed with suede fringing. There’s a wide variety of styles this time around and many to be adored, but for all the amazing detail there’s a simpler pair at the top of my personal list: Kirkwood’s take on the traditional knee-high riding boot, which presents itself in a kind of mod 60s light.
