Wedding dresses for Princesses

There’s a Royal wedding on the mind of Britain, and it seems to have influenced the theming of Vogue UK’s May 2011 wedding supplement:

Acres of tulle, hours of handiwork and countless fantasies – Vogue celebrates summer’s breathtaking bridal gowns. And how better to mark a uniquely British wedding than with the pride of the nation?

The above description refers to the shoot Wedding Belles; a Mario Testino-photographed dalliance into only the most romantic and beautifully-crafted gowns. Fit for a Princess, perhaps?

Emmanuelle Alt’s First Vogue Paris Cover

With the arguably less provocative and more mass-minded Emmanuelle Alt at the helm of Vogue Paris (meanwhile, Carine’s busy doing her own thing), it’s no surprise that her first cover would feature the most vanilla of fashion memes—the completely inoffensive Gisele Bundchen wearing a white dress in a frickin’ field.

Vogue’s spicy hues

Perhaps it’s the side braids, or maybe it’s the tribal themes, either way this photo shoot has an adventure on the high sea element. A pea green dress, peasant tops and saffron silks by the likes of Marc Jacobs and Salvatore Ferragamo stand out against an ocean backdrop for this Vogue UK shoot.

Italian Vogue’s Latest All-Black Spread: ‘The Black Allure’

Perhaps Italian Vogue is at the forefront of the all-one-race trend that’s been proliferating in magazines since it put out the now iconic all-black issue for July of 2008. This month’s Italian Vogue features another all-black editorial, “The Black Allure,” shot by British photographer Emma Summerton and styled by Edward Enninful. The spread includes some of today’s top models of color, like Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, Arlenis Sosa, and Chanel Iman. American Vogue, which recently ran an all-Asian spread, hinted in a recent blog post that it had an all-black spread in the works, featuring rising star models Ajak Deng and Anais Mali. It’s difficult to say whether these pages are gimmicks or actual steps towards fashion becoming more inclusive. Until time hopefully answers that question, we hope magazines continue to embrace all kinds of faces — and bodies, for that matter.

Arizona Muse: A Model’s Meteoric Rise (Forum Buzz)

22-year-old model Arizona Muse opened and closed the Spring/Summer 2011 Prada runway show, and as often seems to happen with Miuccia Prada’s chosen ones, her career has been heating up ever since. Muse seems to be everywhere this month – and tFS members are taking notice. “I think it is safe to say that this girl is gonna be huge,” predicts Northern Star.

Muse landed the January 2011 cover of Vogue Italia with Freja Beha Erichsen, is currently starring in S/S 2011 ad campaigns for Prada and Yves Saint Laurent, and she has editorials in the February 2011 issues of Vogue Paris, US Vogue, Vogue UK, and Vogue China, among other assorted projects.

“For the moment, Muse has got the face everyone wants to shoot and the haircut that all the chic girls want to have,” says zoom. But it seems that there’s really something more – Muse isn’t just a pretty face; she has something special that is making her stand out and really break through this year. “She’s slaying me,” says Carla-A. “I love love love that she’s not afraid of venturing off the beaten path when it comes to posing. She really renders the studio shoots she stars in a little less generic and brings the clothes to life.” Youarearockstar agrees, stating that Muse “commands the studio space,” and that “her posing is really sublime!”

Without a doubt, Arizona Muse is one to watch, and you can bet our forum members will be doing just that.
