Milan Fashion Week: Focus Marco de Vincenzo

Relative newcomer Marco de Vincenzo served up plenty of originality in his spring/summer 2011 collection.  It was playful, sophisticated, and edgy.  Sleek and streamlined black and white styles were fit for the urban warrior, and were softened with romantic silhouettes. We loved his take on modern suiting, incorporating knee-length skinny Bermudas with close-fitting, ruffle-hemmed blazers, and leaving us to covet that distressed, dark denim suit. Fringe and stripes were used in a fun, but restrained way. Fringed waistlines adorned otherwise demure shirtdresses for a modern twist. Stripes were incorporated with pleating on easy fitting tanks and minis for a fresh, but sophisticated look. Enormous abstract flowers adorned irreverently mismatched miniskirts and cropped-and-boxy tops. And feathered, amorphous designs on skirts, sheaths and tunics brought some additional color and playfulness to the collection.
