Jakarta Fashion Week: Spotlight on Ari Seputra

Ari Seputra’s glamorous, prolific collection was sophisticated and feminine. Firmly rooted in Asian culture but full of modern touches, this neutral-hued collection was refined and wearable. Chock full of stately evening gowns that we could imagine on the sophisticated older woman, we especially loved his more youthful confections. Glamorous full length and mini dresses in classic black and gold brocade were adorned with chunky gold embellishments and belts.
Traditional kimono-inspired dresses with mandarin collars came alive with sheer fabric draping, gilded embellishments, and bold, off-center printed belts. Effortless asymmetrical skirts were balanced with slim, printed blouses in coordinating tones but contrasting patterns for a polished, rather than bohemian vibe.
Elaborate pleating and draping as well as the combination of silk, sheer fabrics, and lace added textured interest to unembellished looks. And traditional Asian buns added a cohesive element to this eclectic and chic collection.
