First, there was the classic Barbie doll with Donatella Versace’s unmistakable blonde mane, and then the Naomi Campbell Stardoll online fashion game of virtual dress-up. There was even a coffee table book, Barbie, featuring images of the doll dressed by designers like Miuccia Prada and Alexander McQueen.
Now, in a strange twist of marketing fate, the fashion designers themselves have become novelty items. German brand Donkey Products has developed a collection of figurative tea bags in the images of some of the world’s most famous designers: Karl Lagerfeld, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Donatella Versace.
The line is called Prêt-à-por Tea, and it showcases fashion world giants perched atop tea bags that easily latch onto the side of your tea cup.
So go ahead and sip a chamomile blend with Karl Lagerfeld into the wee hours, or talk shop over tea and crumpets with Naomi Campbell. If fashion’s not your bag (tea bag, that is), this comedic product also features music industry notables and politicians. With names like Sex, Tea & Rock n’ Roll; Strip Tea; DemocraTea; and Cup of Fame, there’s a teabag for just about anyone.
