Designer Alexis Dawn

“Champagne taste on a beer budget” is one creative way of describing Brisbane based designer Alexis Dawn’s aesthetic. Her use of luxury fabrics such as chiffon and organza in tasteful neutrals brings a whole new look to contemporary chic.

Comfort is a big thing to Walker. When asked whether a woman is sexier is stilettos or sneakers she responded, “…whatever she is most comfortable in,” and said the worst fashion faux pas is “being uncomfortable or trying to be someone else.” She believes fashion is beautiful but shouldn’t be taken too seriously and “in the end it is who wears the fashion that makes it come to life.”

Walker is a true advocate of individuality and believes one should never sell out. Her advice for future fashionistas: “Stay true to yourself and your ideas. Even though you still need to design with the business side in mind and listen to what people are saying, in the end it is your work and I would rather fail by sticking to my guns than selling myself out.”
