Last season, models in high heels and even higher buns dominated the catwalks. But this autumn, get ready to welcome the new generation of the top knot.
First seen at Sass & Bide’s spring-summer ’11 show at London Fashion Week — courtesy of super-stylist Renya Xydis — the rock chic top knot has become one of the most sought-after looks.
For a hassle-free, catwalk-style ‘do — perfect for school, the beach or your mate’s party — take a look at our top tips for making it work on you:
Apply a hair-thickening product, such as GHD Fat Hair Lotion, and work it through dry hair.
Part your hair in the middle, then flip your hair upside down and lightly mist your locks with a medium-hold hairspray.
Starting with one section of your parted hair, begin to braid — tying at the ends.
Ensure that both braids meet at the top of your head by tying them together like a ponytail.
Twist the braided ponytail into a loose bun and secure with a hair tie.
Finish with a spritz of hairspray to hold the look.
DOLLY’s top tip: To add a touch of messiness to your look, position the tips of your hair toward the front of the knot. Bedhead chic, anyone?
