Transseasonal whites

Gauzy whites, off-whites and creams are often considered ill-suited to the colder months… but in 2011 they’re exactly the kind of pieces that take you effortlessly from fall to spring without skipping a beat. Take this example: the cosiest of knits atop of a flowing cream dress makes for an outfit suited to the cool air around Paris’ Tuileries before spring arrives. And when it does: just go sans coat.

Stylish Gucci Accessories (Spring/ Summer 2011 Collection)

Gucci accessories have always been more attractive than clothing (at least for me!). The Spring/ Summer 2011 collection is very interesting. It includes a number of bag styles you will definitely like, shoes that vary from classic peep-toe pumps in vivid colors to cute flats, beautiful sunglasses, scarves that will transform your look completely and other stuff which is both glamorous and elegant.

Bags in Gucci Spring/ Summer 2011 collection come in a variety of styles. You will find tiny and absolutely gorgeous clutches made of chic materials and tied with pretty braid finished with fringe, larger bags adorned with Gucci signature prints and inscriptions, wicker pieces and fabulous purses made from ostrich skin.

Gucci Spring/ Summer 2011 collection of shoes is also wonderful. Take, for instance, the beige suede ankle boot wrapped with fringe – looks just perfect. Other great pairs in the range include: grape-toned sandals with golden heels, denim mules with bows, strap sandals, etc.

Gwen Stefani Looks Incredible and Feels Proud of It (Gwen Stefani Covers Elle May 2011)

Gwen Stefani who looks incredibly good both on pictures and in real life says she feels very proud of her appearance. In the interview for Elle May 2011 she said: ”I’m very vain. That would be my middle name. Of course I am, you know what I mean? I love the visual.”

Gwen Stefani covers the Elle ‘Women in Music’ issue wearing a stylish stretch wool dress from Givenchy collection. There are a few other photos of the 41-year-old singer and fashion designer in the edition. My favorite is the one with Gwen sporting a black-and-white dress.

Gwen Stefani also shared about her family achievement: ”The first time we ever kissed was right around Valentine’s Day. We were in New Orleans on tour. So, yeah, I always think about that because it’s unbelievable that we’ve been able to stay together. I feel so proud of us. It’s one of my biggest achievements.”

Gwen Stefani is sometimes compared with Lady Gaga and Katy Perry in terms of style but the singer says they don’t have anything in common and insists she isn’t after sex-symbol thing as the girls are: ”I don’t see myself in those girls. I usually put pants on. I see these girls as more going for the sex-symbol thing. I was more, in the band, like a tomboy. Of course, I think every girl is sexy, so there’s going to be a little of that. But I see a lot of younger artists going more toward the sexy thing.”

Would You Wear These Trends?

Dianna Agron, Leighton Meester and Kate Bosworth mix wild with mild: their leather dresses show a hint of skin, but flowing skirts and high necklines keep the look ladylike.

Pleats – The Feminine Classic Revival

Pleats are here to stay. The spring-summer 2011 collections are using pleats in all its different forms and in combination. Pleats are expected to make a comeback and not just in skirts or dresses but soon trousers (both men’s and women’s) too will be flashing pleats.

Pleats are being used in dresses and skirts of all lengths, be it mini, midi or maxi. Pleats are also being used in tops and blouses. The leading designers and designer houses have come up with some great designs incorporating the pleats.

Chloe, Lanvin, Miu Miu J. Mendel, Derek Lam, Nina Ricci, Ohne Titel, Bensoni, Jonathan Saunders and Erdem have all used pleats with panache to create stylish outfits that have included skirts, dresses, blouses, tops and even full length gowns.

The designers have used both knife pleats and sunray pleats in their creations. Single pleats facing the same direction are known as knife pleats and knife pleats that start out small but become larger as they fall down are known as the sunray or sunburst pleats.

Pleats add volume, thus they should be used with care. They are generally used to balance broad shoulders, so if you have problem areas think twice before using pleats.

The last thing one needs is highlighting a heavy waist or bottom. On the other hand if you have narrow waists and broad shoulders, pleats will do a great job of balancing the body proportions.

Pleated skirts can be combined with tights or long socks, jackets, boots or heels. When combined with jackets and boots they look very chic and similar outfits can be picked up from, Rachel Roy, Richard Nicoll, Jill Stuart and Tommy Hilfiger.

Designers have used sheers and light fabric for their spring creation. As the pleats proved to be a steady presence all through this year, 2011 winter collections may use heavier drapes. Combining the outfits appropriately with winter accessories will make them suitable for winter wear.

Soft styling for tough accessories

There’s no requirement for a leather harness to be supremely complex. In fact, it can be as simple as hooking a couple of leather belts together and winding them around your body into a harness of your own (I do this myself on occasion – if you’re interested in some more detailed instructions on how to make it work, leave us a comment below). It can also be as subtly bondage-inspired as this Hermes example, which is ultimately elegant and clean, as 2011′s fresh spin on the harness should be. But while most of those new interpretations focus on sharp, tailored pieces this shoot from The Block is all about contrasting the leather pieces with all that is soft and gauzy.

The Celebrity Craze About the Spring Leather Dress

The leather is back on the fashion scene, this time in a different and unusual presence. The leather dress is the new Hollywood look so don’t be surprised if you see your favorite star wearing a small leather dress in a vivid color.

Actually the black leather dress isn’t as fashionable as it is the neutral colored leather dress. The biggest fashion designers have included this amazing outfit to their latest spring collections.

The dress is suitable for office wear, as well as for a first date outfit, a romantic dinner, a party night or just a casual walk.

The leather has always been a universal fabric, but the colors are more than provocative this spring. The versatile leather has the ability to be combined with almost any other color, and in the mean time it fits all kind of accessories.

The new craze in the fashion is the brightly colored leather euphoria that had gripped the world in the 80’s.

The comeback of the leather dress isn’t something surprising. The simple, the better: that’s the motto, when it comes to the leather dress silhouette.

The white leather coats are also very fashionable, so if you want to achieve a more glamorous look, go for a white leather coat.

In case you are a fan of the classics, go for short black leather jacket combined with mini leather dress in desert colors. Don’t limit to the standard leather jacket or accessories, and choose different colors and shapes.

The leather garments are more than modern, especially for stylish women that want to be modern, but yet classy. In case you want something bold, go for red leather. It can be a dress or leather trousers, but don’t hesitate to wear this unusual outfit. It will bring certain sophistication in your wardrobe.

The leather gloves and hats are part of this extravagant look too, so go for them, especially if they are in colors such as blue, green or yellow.

Fergie Performs in Lego Dress at 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards

Fergie has never been a girl who wears ordinary clothing, especially on stage. So, of course we expected to see something eccentric on her performing at 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards. And thanks God, she didn’t disappoint. The Black Eyed Peas singer wore an interesting mini dress made totally from small Lego bricks – black and bright pieces. This was amazing!

Wedding dresses for Princesses

There’s a Royal wedding on the mind of Britain, and it seems to have influenced the theming of Vogue UK’s May 2011 wedding supplement:

Acres of tulle, hours of handiwork and countless fantasies – Vogue celebrates summer’s breathtaking bridal gowns. And how better to mark a uniquely British wedding than with the pride of the nation?

The above description refers to the shoot Wedding Belles; a Mario Testino-photographed dalliance into only the most romantic and beautifully-crafted gowns. Fit for a Princess, perhaps?
