They’re Too Sexy for Their Cups

First, there was the classic Barbie doll with Donatella Versace’s unmistakable blonde mane, and then the Naomi Campbell Stardoll online fashion game of virtual dress-up. There was even a coffee table book, Barbie, featuring images of the doll dressed by designers like Miuccia Prada and Alexander McQueen.

Now, in a strange twist of marketing fate, the fashion designers themselves have become novelty items. German brand Donkey Products has developed a collection of figurative tea bags in the images of some of the world’s most famous designers: Karl Lagerfeld, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Donatella Versace.

The line is called Prêt-à-por Tea, and it showcases fashion world giants perched atop tea bags that easily latch onto the side of your tea cup.

So go ahead and sip a chamomile blend with Karl Lagerfeld into the wee hours, or talk shop over tea and crumpets with Naomi Campbell. If fashion’s not your bag (tea bag, that is), this comedic product also features music industry notables and politicians. With names like Sex, Tea & Rock n’ Roll; Strip Tea; DemocraTea; and Cup of Fame, there’s a teabag for just about anyone.

Fashion world icon teabags? What will they think of next?

Interview with Diego Binetti

Designer Diego Binetti inherited love for women’s clothes from his mother. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Diego grew up helping his mother embellish embroideries on elaborate couture gowns for her clients. During his early years, he began to understand and learn to love his mother’s passion for fashion which later shaped his own work. Later, Binetti’s family moved to Florida, where he studied at the International Fine Arts College in Miami. In 1995 Binetti moved to Milan where he worked with several famous designers and fashion icons. The Benetti line is a high-fashion collection aimed at the jet-setting women of the world. The Benetti woman is fun, modern career woman of today. Diego’s vision is unique and ever changing with threads of the past and present. We caught up with Diego to talk about his work.

Do you have a special place where you create  your designs?

Not really I create from everywhere. A lot of    the time, I walk around with a hand sketchbook. I draw my ideas and thoughts as I walk by seeing the world go by.

What is your favorite line to create, Spring or  Fall?

I love all seasons.  I don’t have a preference between the two.

Who is your favorite designer?

There are some many colleagues that I respect but I don’t have favorites. We all are children of a creative mind and soul.

Who do you hope will someday wear your line?

All those reading my thoughts and responses.

What personal quality do you believe is reflected in your work?

My dedication to details, observations and performances.

What was your most exciting moment as a designer?

The moment that I live in.

Where do you see your line in 5 years?

Flagship stores in US and internationally.

Where do you feel you were most successful and where did you feel at a low point?

I feel most successful when I obtain what I want and desire. The low is when I don’t .

What item do you think is worth splurging on?

Whatever your eye is splurging out loud to you.

How long does it take you to create a collection?

6 months is the complete process per season.

Do you create your own drawings?

Yes, I love to draw.

What is your philosophy about the art of fashion?

Liberal expression that translate the IN and OUT of your world.

What is your favorite article of clothing that you own?

Too many out there to select…may be this collection coming up.

Any other thing we should know about you?

Yes…love and be loved is the key to unlocking the world.

Michelle Williams Transforms Into Marilyn Monroe

Back in May, we broke the news that Michelle Williams had chopped off her locks in preparation to play Marilyn Monroe on the big screen. Today we got the photographic proof that Williams’s transformation into the platinum-tressed Monroe is complete! Filming has begun on My Week With Marilyn, the story of a 23-year-old Oxford student who befriended the Hollywood icon after meeting her on the set of the The Prince and The Showgirl in 1956. Clearly, casting Williams as Marilyn has proven to be sheer genius. And considering that her co-stars are some of England’s finest actors (including Judi Dench, Emma Watson and Kenneth Branagh as Sir Laurence Olivier), we’re already sure that My Week With Marilyn will be a must-see movie in 2011.

Alexander McQueen Laptop Case

While I was looking for some stylish laptop cases for my 15″ inch, I found one of my favorites over at Net-a-Porter, the Alexander McQueen Skull-print case. This case is probably one of the most stylishly-dressed (and cheaper McQueen pieces) that I found. For only $395 and in exclusivity at Net-a-Porter, it could be a great piece to accessorize your laptop.

Black and gray canvas laptop case with black leather trim. Alexander McQueen laptop case has a silver zip fastening around upper edge, front slit pocket with silver zip fastening and leather trim, designer-stamped leather and silver plaque, full length interior slit pocket with leather trim, internal designer-stamped leather plaque and silver hardwear.

Agent Provocateur Fall 2010 Sexy Stocking Collection

When I think about a sexy girl the picture that comes to my mind inevitably features her wearing sheer lacy lingerie, sexy stockings and high heels. I know it has already become a stamp thanks to millions of photos on the Internet but I can’t do anything about it. So, when I saw the Fall 2010 Agent Provocateur Stocking Collection that picture flashed through my head again.

The new Fall 2010 Agent Provocateur Stocking Collection includes super bright and daring stockings along with more traditional styles. It gives the customer the opportunity to choose how to wear these: to make them a piece that focuses attention on or the item that complements the attire.

Milan Fashion Week: Alberta Ferretti Spring/ Summer 2011

The fairy-tale garden full of blossoming flowers seems to have been the inspiration for Alberta Ferretti’s Spring/ Summer 2011 collection which the designer presented as a part of Milan Fashion Week.

Alberta Ferretti Spring/ Summer 2011 collection looked very feminine and unusual. It came as a great contrast to ranges of the previous seasons that were more luxe and at the same time down-to-earth.

Talking about her Spring/ Summer 2011 collection Alberta Ferretti said:

“Women want to change. Fantasy is so important.”

The collection of floral chiffons can be the one we want for the next season. Romantic mood in such a tough time for everyone is good. So, Alberta Ferretti’s clothing that comprises sheer, floor-sweeping dresses, short casual frocks and a few urban pieces like a white trench, natural python vest and a Bermuda shorts suit will definitely find their customers.

Kate Moss – no envelope pushing here

Kate Moss, no longer at the peak she once enjoyed, makes a brief return to the pages of Vogue Paris in a shoot that’s full of leathers and next-season biker jackets. While the shoot certainly features hot little leather numbers, it’s sadly without anything that really pushes either the leather or biker trends forwards. It’s still a bit too early for magazines to start inspiring your spring 2011 fashion choices, we suppose.
