Hilary Swank

The actress attended the L.A. premiere of Conviction in a beaded Chanel dress, sparkling peep-toes and shoulder-dusting Neil Lane earrings.

Hilary Swank kicked deco into high gear in a graphic aqua sheath and Technicolor gems. She heightened the of-the-moment color combo with dramatic matching liner.

Paris Fashion Week: Christian Dior Spring/ Summer 2011

If you want to find the most feminine clothing you should opt for Christian Dior. However, for Spring/ Summer 2011 collection John Galliano decided to add a bit of masculinity. A white parka, a gunmetal blue leather peacoat, a suede flying jacket, and a navy donkey jacket – all had the fresh Galliano’s vision.

The colors in Christian Dior Spring/ Summer 2011 collection looked fantastic. Ranging from light and subdued blues to bright and vibrant purples – the color palette was very diverse. The yellow pieces were the best and attracted lots of attention.

Cute summer dresses, super-short shorts, blouses with off-the-shoulder and halter necklines, pillbox white hats and shoes with huge wrapped socks – these designs were the focus of Christian Dior Spring/ Summer 2011 range.

Unfortunately we don’t have the interview headlines yet but a few photos have already become public. There are two Marie Claire covers featuring Victoria Beckham. On one of those she wears a pretty cream-colored leopard-printed coat and a sexy black bodysuit. On the other she remains in the bodysuit only showing off her perfect figure.

How to Infuse More Red Into Your Wardrobe

Red is an electrifying color. A red lip instantly turns heads, and the girl in the red dress is always the life of the party.

Even Nathaniel Hawthorne knew the value of red – it was no coincidence Hester Prynne wore a Scarlet Letter on her chest.

Red naturally draws attention because of its vibrancy and power factor – and maybe, considering the current supernatural trend, because it brings to mind images of vampires and blood.

Whatever the reason, red always makes a statement.  Embrace this bold color and find new ways to wear it.

Adding red to any outfit makes it a show-stopper, so here are some ideas to get you started.

Tips on how to infuse more red into your wardrobe:

1. Wear a red jacket with frilly detailing and wrap a bow belt around the waist.

2. Pucker up with two kinds of red lips:  classic red or neon orange-red.

3. Wear your boyfriend’s old red shirt under a pair of childish overalls.

4. Make lumberjack plaid look fashion-forward by mixing it with tie-dye and a large leather tote.

5. Drape a bright red cardigan over your shoulders.

6. A long red military coat makes a basic jeans and shirt combo look out of this world.

7. Tie your hair into a bun and put on a red, semi-turban headband to add kick and charm to a denim look.

8. Layer a red Fair Isle knitted vest over a classic pinstripe blazer.

Alexander McQueen SS11: against the grain

It goes without saying that Sarah Burton has mammoth shoes to fill; but this is a woman who well and truly knows how to capture the essence of Alexander McQueen. The label’s Spring 2011 offering under her hand is brilliantly ornate, fantastical, thematic; as we’d come to expect of the late designer. There are places where the collection doesn’t reach the same level of coherence or refinement as it would if McQueen himself were behind it, but it’s necessary for Burton to bring her own style to the house. The collection’s inspirations are rooted firmly in nature, with garments made up of butterflies, sheaths of wheat, masses of pheasant feathers… the types of pieces that fashion editors worldwide will be clamouring to work with. And then of course there’s the shoes and accessories: statement pieces well worth snapping up.

Elinor Voytal’s Knitted Jewlery

London based knitted textile graduate Elinor Voytal, has found a way to use her craft and knowledge in machine knits in a very unconventional way. We have started to see a lot more fabric incorporation into accessories over the last year, and knitwear in general has revamped its image over the last few years. I really like Voytal’s collection of statement jewelery pieces made using machine knitting techniques and intricate embellishment.
