Jewelry Line DANNIJO Goes Global For Their Fall 2010 Collection

We’ve told you about our love of all things produced here in NYC, so you can imagine we’re pretty sweet on local jewelry line DANNIJO. Founded by sisters Danielle and Jodie Snyder, the gems soon came to our attention three years ago with their capsule collection to benefit L.W.A.L.A., which supports sustainable projects in Africa. Natalie Portman soon came onboard, and the celeb following exploded—Beyonce and Blake Lively all regularly rock the collection.

For fall ’10, the gals continued mixing up Danielle’s bohemian whimsy and Jodie’s sophisticated style, with pieces inspired by the global girls—urban warriors who travel the world in their spare time. Think oxidized silver and gold-plated metal that work alongside crystals, semi-precious gems, and found objects. There are color palettes that channel India and Africa, with chunky cuffs, statement necklaces, and eye-catching rings constitute a collection that’s one epic boarding pass.

Fashion Inspiration: Walt Disney’s Cinderella

When most people think “Classic Disney Princess,” Cinderella is one of the first that comes to mind. She has a perfect fairytale story, a gorgeous blue dress, and even her own castle in Walt Disney World. So, of course, this series would not be complete without a post about the ever so beautiful Cinderella.

Like the previous articles of this series, the purpose of this article is to use a childhood idol as inspiration for outfits that you can actually pull off as a college student. All it takes is a little creativity!

1. Cinderella the Servant

As a servant, Cinderella was not allowed to wear anything as fancy and elaborate as the clothes her stepsisters wore; her outfits were plain and simple.

The outfit I made to channel her look is comfy and casual, but is a bit beyond your average tee and shorts. The colors tone down the outfit so that it isn’t flashy, but the feminine details draw just the right amount of attention. Wearing this outfit doesn’t require you to be a servant, but it looks so comfortable that you probably wouldn’t mind getting on your feet and doing a few chores in it!

2. Before the Transformation

When Cinderella ran to the garden, she was very upset that her stepsisters had ruined her beautiful dress, although in reality, she still looked great on screen. I decided to recreate this scene through an outfit with a one-shouldered pink dress, and floral accessories inspired by the garden.

3. Casual Cinderella

Cinderella meets the Prince while wearing an extravagant blue dress, but you don’t need an invitation to a royal ball to be inspired by it.

The outfit below includes a more casual blue dress that is simple, although the intricate details and cream colored accessories make it feminine and elegant as well. The mouse ring gives a nod to Cinderella’s loyal mouse friends, and the watch locket necklace is to make sure you remember when the clock strikes midnight.

4. Cinderella at the Ball

If you do have to get dressed up for a formal occasion, Cinderella can be a great source of inspiration.

For the outfit below, I paired a gorgeous blue dress with significant Cinderella accessories. In today’s society, clear heels are often thought of as not-so-classy (although Prada has done some great lucite heels that are, unfortunately, way out of my budget) so I decided not to include the iconic glass slipper. To make up for that, though, I did include lucite jewelry and a clutch with a lucite handle in reference to it.

Jennifer Aniston: topless for new Fragrance ads

Jennifer Aniston attracts everybody’s attention to the debut of her perfume, posing topless in a series of promotional shots for the new fragrance line.

The magnificent black-and-white promo shots were taken in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The 41-year-old celeb is expected to launch the scent at Harrod’s department store, where the perfume will be sold exclusively, in London on Wednesday, July 21.

Aniston’s perfume is called Lolavie, which roughly translates as “laughing at life”. On her debut fragrance, Aniston said:

“It wasn’t just about showing up for a shoot and putting my name on the bottle. I felt like a little chemist. It’s turned out to be an extension of myself as opposed to slapping my name on something.”

“I am not a big perfume-y fragrance fan. I want people to go ‘what is that? You smell great!’ But most of all, I wanted it to smell natural.”,

said Jennifer.

How To Choose Flattering Coat For Your Shape

Women love coats for they are warm and comfortable. But they should fit well and look stylish, too. Taking into account the fact we all have different shapes it is sometimes really hard to choose a coat that looks great.

However, everything is possible and even easy when you have someone to help you. So, here I am and my tips on choosing the right coat for your figure.

Petite figure. Your coat style is of knee length, with bracelet sleeves and simple lines. To create the illusion of a taller frame you can try empire waists, belts and fitted bodices. Beautiful details at necklines will look interesting, but be careful not to overdo. Long coats, double-breasted styles, any kinds of voluminous details and wide lapels are to stay away from. They will hardly flatter your tiny shape.

Curvy figure. You are very lucky to have a curvy figure. To accentuate your assets you should look for straight or belted coats, with simple lines and natural-looking shoulder padding. Knee-length will work best for you as will narrow lapels tapered to the waist. To have a steamlined look try single-breasted coats. Things to avoid: high necklines, flap or patch pockets.

Broad Shoulders. Opt for a cocoon coat or any coats that have loose, unstructured jackets. A huge No is a double-breasted style as it can make your shoulders look even broader. Raglan sleeves and deep armholes will look nice. Stiff fabrics are to avoid as well as breast pockets, trimming, epaulets and shoulder pads. Try the mid-hip length or longer and choose detailed hem to balance your figure. V-necks will work best.

Narrow Shoulders. Your choice is a military coat, with defined shoulders and reasonable padding. Steer clear of dropped or raglan sleeves, choose straight sleeves instead. To distract attention from your shoulders you might want to highlight the waist with the help of a belt. Double-breasted coats will be a great decision.

Boyish figure. To look more feminine you need a coat with a princess-shaped silhouette, bold details like large buttons or patch pockets. Seamed bodices can give you shape as well. However, too full and exaggerated shoulder details will be unflattering.

Small Bust. Try styles with a nipped waist and flattering details on top. Classic trench-coat that is always trendy will become a good option. Wide lapels, seams, draping at shoulder and high armholes will help you. Square or boxy silhouettes are to stay away from.

Full Bust. To make full bust look great you will need semi-fitted, single-breasted styles of coats, with deep V-necks, and narrow lapels. High armholes and natural shoulder will make you look slimmer while full sleeves will add volume to the area you want to hide. Stay away from high necklines, patch pockets and double-breasted styles. You might want to try fitted waists, but make sure the seams aren’t too high and the cut isn’t too tight for you.

Protruding belly. Single-breasted style will be the most perfect. Other options include: straight-cut, tailored styles or a subtle A-line shape. For a slimmer silhouette go for armholes and a natural shoulder. Oversized buttons and pocket details near the waist are to avoid. Mid-hip or longer length will work well for your shape.

Milla Jovovich For Escada Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 Ad Campaign

Pretty but a bit masculine Milla Jovovich looks good on Escada Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 ad campaign. 5th Element actress tries to show her feminine side wearing beautiful evening dresses accessorized with luxury gloves and exquisite jewelry.

Clothes Milla Jovovich graces in look sumptuous, though sometimes rather simple. The blood-red silk ensemble including a chic revealing V-neck cardigan and pants make the woman look sexy and tempting.

Example of Escada modernity is a combination of elaborately knitted top, leather pants, spike heels and long and attractive necklaces.

Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 Escada ad campaign is nice to look at but it is a bit too angular and lacks flowing forms. And Milla Jovovich isn’t the woman who can set this right.
