When it comes to doing Hard Work, Elle Brazil knows how to lay down the ground rules. Number 1, always pair a hard-hat with dramatic eyeliner, Elizabeth-Taylor-as-Cleopatra style. And 2, no job is too dark, dirty or dangerous to be done in designer clothing.

The playful, child-like expression and sex-kitten hair make Ann-Margaret’s costumed cowgirl particularly adorable. This vintage inspiration is from 1964′s Viva Las Vegas.

British actress, Carey Mulligan, and the Australian star of “Alice in Wonderland,” Mia Wasikowska, are just two of the young celebrities who have adopted Jean Seberg’s blonde crop, as seen in Jean-Luc Godard’s ‘A Bout de Souffle’ (Breathless), the 1960 film which marked the beginning of the French New Wave. The movie turned the young actress into a style icon whose looks and manner of dress on camera, remain as fresh and contemporary today as they were when the film was released half a century ago.
‘Breathless’ celebrated its 50th birthday with a Rialto Pictures re-release in New York on May 28th. The London re-release is set for June 25th.

Colour, embellishment, craftsmanship and a high-tech approach to fabric manipulation characterised the Royal College of Art’s MA graduate collections shown in London today (June 10). Thirty-three students from the RCA’s prestigious School of Fashion – the world’s only wholly postgraduate fashion department – presented their collections to press and industry heads; ten students from menswear, and eighteen from womenswear.

Beach hair may be our favorite thing about summer. But if there’s no wave-riding in your future, there’s always surf sprays, the saltwater texturizers that true beauty connoisseurs have come to think of like fine wine, carefully examining the bottle to determine the source, the blend of ingredients, and the time spent on the shelf. Every brand has its own unique formula that offers a slightly different take on briny tousling, and since there’s no rating system for weighing the options, we took the liberty of playing salt sommelier to search out the best varieties for your hair, whether it’s fine, thick, straight, or curly. No, no. Thank you.

The evening’s other high-profile winner was Usher, who picked up the Celebrity of the Year Award (fragrances from Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey, Faith Hill, and Halle Berry were all nominated in the Popular Appeal category, but none of their famous creators materialized. ) “I’m really happy about finding a new love and a new passion, which is fragrance,” Usher said as he accepted his FiFi. Talk about igniting passion: “Fragrance is the thing that stays on when everything else comes off,” he told us in a near whisper later on backstage. Swoon.

Taylor Swift has made a name for herself as much for her tight, flaxen ringlets as her angelic country twang, but the songbird couldn’t resist the lure of the blow-dryer at the CMT Music Awards in Nashville last night. As one-time haters of our own wavy, thick locks, we understand her urge to go straight. (By the way, she’s a fan of MorrocanOil, the argan oil-based elixir that’s such a dynamite smoothing agent.) Oh, but her curls! They’re so signature. What do you think: a nice change of pace, or a red-carpet beauty gaffe?
